Feng Shui Seating Arrangements

Proper seating arrangements are key to reduce stress at the Holiday Table. Holidays are when loved ones gather to be grateful of their lives and each other according to the Norman Rockwell Pictures. In reality, all the unfinished business comes to the dinner table as passing the peas brings back a negative memory of your siblings. Feng Shui uses seating arrangements to suggest your best power position. Focus on giving ideal seating to the more stressful guests.

Seating Arrangement Tips

  • Place your dinner table in the middle of the room. Remove furniture pieces to allow easy access to all chairs around the table.
  • Place the hosts at the power positions. The power position is the furthest position away from the door and is supported by the back of a wall. The hosts should be able to see people entering the room without having to turn their heads.
  • Position guests who are unfriendly on the same side of the table. Place a person in between them. The conflict position is across the table from each other. At this position the guest is constantly staring into the energy field of the person and begins to remember all the reasons they dislike them.
  • Seat the more vulnerable guests against a solid back wall to keep them supported.
  • Calculate your guests Kua number and place them at their favorable direction . You can find this formula in an feng shui book or go to WOFS.com
  • Make it fun and have place cards with their favorable direction on it. Enjoy yourself and your company!

2005 - Year of the Rooster

February 9, 2005 begins the Chinese Year of the Rooster. (2/9/05-1/28/06)

The Rooster is the 10th animal in the 12 year cycle of the Chinese calendar.

The 2005 year ahead is made up of the same elements as 2004. The Chinese element for the Monkey was Metal and so it is for the Rooster. This is what's called the Branch part of this year. The other part of the year's element makeup is referred to as the Stem and is Wood, same as in 2004. This year, however, the two elements are more of a feminine or softer Metal and Wood and are thus Yin in nature.
